What Bigger Builds Actually Cost

The estimator above prices websites. Mobile apps and custom CRM systems are a different order of work, so here are the real bands, taken from our own cost guides.

Mobile apps

Simple app, one user type
£15,000 – £35,000
Multi-role app with offline support, notifications, payments and an admin backend
£35,000 – £80,000

Both figures are from a UK team and include the backend, not just the screens. Store review adds two to three weeks that nobody controls.

Custom CRM & internal systems

One team, pipeline and tasks, one or two integrations
£8,000 – £20,000
Several roles and several integrations, data migration priced separately
£20,000 – £50,000

For comparison, per-seat SaaS at £40 to £120 per user per month is £10,000 to £29,000 a year for twenty seats — every year.

Ranges, not quotes. Which end of a band a project lands on comes down to the four things below — and we scope before we quote, so you get one fixed figure rather than an estimate that drifts.

How Pricing Works

What Actually Moves the Price

Distinct user roles

A site every visitor sees the same way is one job. A system where admins, staff and customers each see something different is several. Roles are the first thing we count.

Systems it must talk to

Payment providers, accounting packages, CRMs, stock systems. Each integration is scoped and priced on its own, because each one behaves differently.

Web, mobile, or both

A mobile app alongside the web build is a second product with its own store submissions and update cycle. It is never a small add-on, and we will say so.

Data to migrate

Moving years of records out of spreadsheets or an old system, and cleaning them on the way, is real work. It is often the part a brief forgets to mention.

Questions

Pricing Questions

Are the prices on this page fixed?

No - they are starting prices for each platform, in pounds, so you can see roughly where a project lands before you talk to us. The final figure comes from a free scoping call, after which we quote one fixed price rather than an hourly estimate that drifts. You keep the scoping output whether or not you go ahead.

What is included in the starting price?

A mobile-responsive build, basic on-page SEO, and a site set up to be fast and indexable by Google. For an e-commerce store, the product catalogue, basket and checkout are set up for you. Domain and hosting are not included; we will recommend a UK host and can manage it for you, but you own the accounts.

What makes a project cost more than the starting price?

Four things, in order of how often they matter: the number of distinct user roles, how many external systems the build has to talk to, whether there is a mobile app alongside the web build, and how much existing data has to be migrated and cleaned. A focused single-purpose site and a multi-role platform with integrations are different orders of magnitude, which is why we scope before we quote.

WordPress, custom PHP or React - how do I choose?

WordPress is the fastest route to a straightforward business site and the easiest for a non-technical team to edit. A hand-coded PHP build with its own admin panel is lighter, faster and has no plugin dependencies to maintain, which suits sites that will grow into a system. React or Next.js is for interfaces that genuinely behave like an app. We will tell you when the cheaper option is the right one.

What does it cost to keep a site or app running after launch?

For a website, hosting and a small annual maintenance allowance for updates. For a mobile app, both stores charge annual developer fees and force periodic updates as they raise their minimum SDK versions, so an app left untouched for two years will eventually be delisted. We set out the realistic running cost during scoping so there are no surprises later.
